Dana Piazza
Elaborations

May 24–July 12, 2024

Opening reception Saturday, May 12, 2025, 3–5 PM

TURLEY is pleased to present Elaborations, Dana Piazza’s first solo exhibition with the gallery since his representation. Piazza will present further investigations into his Lines and Squares series as well as a selection of unseen Woven Lines pieces from 2022. Piazza’s drawing practice emphasizes and expands upon a single origin mark coupled with a set of self-imposed rules that are the scaffolding for an extraordinarily comprehensive and varying body of work. Elaborations continues his systemic inclinations toward non-representational abstraction focusing on form, color, the tools of creation, and the artist’s hand.

Dana Piazza

Dana Piazza is a visual artist who creates abstract drawings and paintings on paper, panel, and canvas through a process of open-ended experimentation, repeating simple marks with brushes, markers, pens, and nibs. The meticulous forms that Piazza assembles on his flat surfaces depict the illusion of depth and movement; they seem voluminous, carrying significant visual weight. He approaches each work as though it were both a puzzle and an experiment, and lets the materials and tools determine the process.
